Going clothes shopping with friends in Shinchon was the plan today.

I wore a yellow tee with a yellow cardigan, along with a yellow bag. A splendid yellow from top to bottom was the look, which matched my vibrant mood.

I was a bit sad to go to the wedding of one of my closest friends…

결혼식이 끝난뒤 옷을 갈아입고 우울한 내 마음을 달래줄 내가 좋아하는 갈색 남방을 입고 친구들을 만났다.

After the wedding, I decided to lift my mood a bit by changing into one of my favorite short-length shirts before going off to meet my friends.

길이가 짧은 갈색 남방을 입을때는 배의 힘을 꽉 줘야된다는거!ㅋ

But the thing is that you have to really suck it in when wearing it. Hmmmph…

FeetManSeoul still regularly appears in the Expat Living section of the Korea Herald, where we did a piece on the sub-trend of extremely bright colors schemes inspired directly by the fashions of the 1980's, as reinterpreted by really young kids looking back for inspirations in the here and now.

왜 홍대에서 이렇게 자주 다니냐고요? (사실 1번째와 3번째 사진들에 나온 커플들이 난지도에 일어난 World DJ Festival에 찍은 건데) 내가 헤랄드의 기사에서 말한 듯이:

Why Hongdae so much these days? (Even though the 1st and 3rd pictures of the couples below were actually taken in Nanjido, at the 2nd World DJ Festival — link in Korean and English) As I said in the Korea Herald article:

요즘 홍대 거리를 다니면서 이전에 알던 언더그라운드 클럽과 트렌디한 바들뿐만 아니라 정말 독특하고 예술적인 감각이 살아있는 것들이 많다는 새로운 감흥을 갖게 되었어요. 다양한 스타일과 볼 것들이 즐비하다는 점에서 홍대는 명실상부 한국 패션의 중심이 되었죠. 예를 들어 지하철역 입구 앞에서 클래식한 정장과 진주귀걸이를 걸치고 남자친구를 기다리고 있는 젊은 여성들과 파티갈 준비를 하고 화려하게 차려입은 클러버들을 한 곳에서 볼 수 있어요. 뿐만 아니라 길거리를 누비고 다니는 젊은 펑크족 무리들도 볼 수 있죠. 미국물을 잔뜩 머금고 있는 압구정이나 대학생들 중심의 신촌이나 서울의 다른 어느 곳보다도 홍대는 그 어떤것이라도 받아들이는 패션의 중심가라고 할 수 있어요.

Recent trips through Hongdae have given me a new appreciation for its appeal as something more than formerly "underground" clubs, trendy bars, as well as some truly unique and artistic offerings. Hongdae is also one of the true centers of Korean fashion, in terms of the sheer variety of styles visible there: one can see young women in formal dresses and pearls waiting for their boyfriends near the subway exit, club kids showing skin and ready to party, or a costumed crew of punks stalking the streets, ready to be seen…More than America-influenced Apkujeong, student-dominated Shinchon, the Koreanized and femme fashions of Myeongdong, or nearly any other area of Seoul, Hongdae is a sartorial petri dish in which anything and everything comes together.

제가 Korean Herald 기사에서 언급하는 것들 중에 '밝은 색상 트렌드'가 이미 현존하는 '미래지향적 메탈릭 트렌드'와 융합되고 있다는 게 있어요. 이것의 가장 좋은 예는 (Herald에 나온) 이 사진이에요.

One of the things I mention in my Korea Herald article is how the bright colors trend is mixing with the already-present "futurism" trends of shiny metallics. One of the best examples of this (which the Herald covered up! Ack!) is in this picture.

I love the green Kryptonite accessories. Speaking of which…

미국의 정의 부대가 색깔로 분류되고 있군요. 그런데 생각해보면, 캐릭터들이 좀 촌스러운 것 같네요. 슈퍼맨은 당연히 80년대고 – 최근 리메이크에 색깔을 좀 죽인 걸로 봐도… 배트맨 조차도 더 어둡고 – 회색이 아니죠. 여기 빨간색 하얀색과 파란색의 또 다른 조합이에요.

The Justice League of America gets color coordinated. Thinking about it, though, the characters are pretty gaudy. Superman is so definitely 80's — notice they toned down and muted the colors for the recent remake. Even Batman is darker — no gray. Here's another variation on red, white, and blue.

아마 보면 알 수 있듯이, 아쿠아 블루와 화이트가 요새 대세에요. 그녀의 의식적인 여성적 스타일로 미루어 봤을 때 여기선 분홍색이 딱 맞군요. 여기 블루앤화이트가 더 있어요. 그녀는 칵테일 드레스와 스웨터를 신기하게 잘 소화하는군요.

As you can probably tell, aqua blue and white are all the rage these days. The pink makes sense, given her self-consciously femmed-out sense of style. Here's some more blue and white, and she does an interesting job with a cocktail dress and sweater.

분홍색 하이탑 Reebok 신발! 아직도 나오나요? Reebok 신발은 정말 돌아왔어요, 적어도 이 트렌드를 해석해보자면요. 사실은 이 똑같은 멤버와 몇 주 전에 만났어요. 그때도 핑크가 주요 포인트였어요, 지금과는 매우 다른 모드였지만 말이에요. 저는 이 사진이 마음에 들어요 왜냐면 개성있는 사람이 많은 홍대의 느낌을 잘 살리고 있기 때문이죠.

Pink hightop Reeboks! Do they even make those anymore? Reeboks are definitely back, at least in this sub-trends's interpretation. Actually, I ran into the same crew a couple weeks earlier, and pink was still a major point, even though they were in a very different mode. I really like this shot a lot, since it captures he feel of Hongdae as much as the interesting people in it.

여기 전형적인 "FMS-스타일" 샷이에요. 어떤 사람들은 각도가 너무 낮다고 하죠. 아니먄 그녀의 다리를 지나치게 섹시하게 강조한다고요. 저는 말하죠 – 그래요! 그리고 그게 저런 의상의 포인트가 아닌가요? 분홍색이 멋져요, 언니!

Here's a typical "FMS-style" shot. Some might say the angle's too low. Or it's emphasizing her legs in a "too sexy" way. I'd say — sure. And isn't that the point of an outfit like that? Work that pink, girl!

아 그리고, 손바닥으로 얼굴을 가리는게 요새 사진 트렌드인가봐요. 특히 매니큐어 칠한 긴 손톱을 가지고요. 사진들 속 여러 여성들이 그래서 제가 정상적인 사진도 찍자고 강요해야만 했어요. 하지만 한국에는 아직도 카메라를 겁내는 사람들이 많아요, 주로 여성들이죠.

By the way, covering the face with an extended, open hand is kind of a photographic trend now. Especially with long, manicured fingernails. Several of the girls in these shots were doing it, and I had to insist that they do some normal shots as well. But there is still some great fear of the camera still in Korea, usually on the part of women.

We caught a really interesting group of kids in convenience store, and they were all eager to pose — still, the girls really wanted to cover their faces. Still, it made for an interesting shot, which she wanted to take in the phone booth.

좋아요! 도시적이고 거리의 느낌을 잘 살리네요! 아가씨 정말 감이 좋은데요? 그리고 요새 하얀색 선글라스가 트렌드라는거 눈치채셨나요? 멋져요:

And they're not just standing in front of the American Apparel store — they also work there. They've got the attitude to pull it off, for sure!

사나워요! 색깔이 밝을수록 길이는 짧아지는 것 같네요. 그리고 제 생각으로는 그녀들은 엄청 밝은 타이즈를 자랑하고 싶었는거 같아요, 그리고 불투명한 타이즈/레깅스는 그것을 너무 과도하지 않게 잘 표현하는군요. 여기 이 테마를 좀 더 모던하고 예술적으로 표현했네요.

Fierce! It seems that the brighter the colors, the higher the hems. I also think the girls are wanting to show off the super-bright tights they're wearing, and the opaque tights/leggings let it come across without seeming too risqué. Here are some modern arty variations on the theme:

Truly on the cutting-edge: he's already got a pink iPod Nano (that must have been fresh out the box) and is rocking it with pink Nikes. Sparkles on the t-shirt and sunglasses — it's definitely different. But back to basics:

Hers is probably the most typical of the brighter look these days: opaque blue tights are probably the most common of them all, with either short shorts, a micro-mini, or an extra-long t-shirt to highlight it all. Matched with a favorite t-shirt and one of the Holy Trinity of casual footwear: colored Converses, Nikes, or even Reeboks, it all comes together as colorful and cute, more than garish and sexy.

Seems like another example of the recent desire to stand out and be noticed, but tempered by the very Korean pressure to not take it too far, beyond what people would find on the edge of acceptable, or what current trends dictate as OK — even if they weren't just a season before.

하지만 요새는 훨씬 더 많은 패션 옵션이 있어요. 이것이 거리에 좀 더 다양성을 불어 넣어주는 것과 더불어 한 스텝 더 나갈 수 있는 스타일 가능성을 주거나 자기만의 방면으로 나갈 수 있게 해주죠. 다른 말로 해서, 이것은 한국 거리는 그 어떤 때보다 더 흥미롭단 말이죠!

But there are a lot more fashion options these days, resulting in a lot more variety on looks on the streets, as well as style possibilities for those who want to take it a step further, or go in their own directions. Which means, in other words, that the Korean streets are more interesting than ever!

5월 11일 두둥. 드디어 그가 왔다. The Cobra Snake(밑에)를 통해 알게된 Steve Aoki.

Dum, da, da, dummm… He's finally here. Steve Aoki, whom I came to know through The Cobra Snake.

FMS와 함께 섹시한 그를 가까이서 볼 수 있는 영광과 인터뷰까지!

It was an honor to get up close and personal with the sexy man himself!

Steve의 명성답게 이 날 많은 연예인과 모델, 패션디자이너의 모습도 볼 수 있었는데 그 중 단연 최고는 모델 배정남씨였다.

Although it was an honor to see all kinds of models and fashion designers that day because of Steve, I was most happy to meet model Bae Jung-nam.

Whatchu lookin' at? / 뭘봐?

리듬에 몸을 맡긴 그를 발견! FMS의 사진 요청에 흔쾌히 수락해 주었고, (사실 묻지도 않고 카메라를 들이대었는데 그의 특유의 찡그린 멋스런 표정과 포즈로 먼저 맞아주었다.) 같이 사진을 찍을 수 있는 영광이 야호 꺅!

We bumped into each other on the dance floor, and happily agreed to pose for FMS's camera (actually, before we even asked him, he had already struck a manly-man pose with a funny expression). It was an honor to get a shot with him!

We also got to meet the famous runway model Andrew Gordon. (Cute!)

I got a recharge in energy from watching Steve, who must have been exhausted by his touring and a flight in from Osaka, along with FMS and the many fashionable people we partied with all through the night of the 12th.

덕분에 지금 근육통으로 고생하고 있다. 하하하. 담에 또 신나는 파티에서 만나요!!

Thanks to that party, my legs are killing me. Hehe. But regardless, we'll see each other at the next party!

한마디로 말하면 존나 좋았지! Cut Chemist는 제대로 믹싱했고 관객들이랑 너무 친절하게 지냈어요. 나와서 관객들의 목소리를 녹음하고 그 샘플을 리믹싱 했네요. 역시 재능이 있는 사람이네.

In short, it was doper than a smoker on payday, fresher than a lemoned up lime. The Cut Chemist dropped mad science and got friendly with the crowd.

역시 Steve Aoki도 진짜 관객의 참여를 좋아하는 거네요. 아니. 연기자의 참여아닌가요? ㅋㅋ

Steve Aoki is also big on audience participation. He really throws himself into his work. Actually, wouldn't this be better called "performer participation?" Hehe.

일단 역시 관객들이 음악에 넋을 완전히 잃었어요.

There are too many women looking at themselves like this in Korea. Amongst all my female friends, the majority of them are constantly calling themselves "fat" or talking about their diet. Does everyone really think they need to actually look like the people they watch on TV, or the Photoshopped models they see in the magazines? Is this reality? Dear reader, you don't see this when you look in the mirror, do you?

FeetManSeoul still regularly appears in the Expat Living section of the Korea Herald, where we did a piece not too long ago on the changing attitudes towards tattoos in Korea, and visited a tattoo artist in his Itaewon studio, after having bumped into him on the streets of Myeongdong.

이태원 뒤쩍에 언덕으로 계속 올라가면 이슬람 교회까지 오는 건데 진짜 아름다운 거예요. 그러면서도 진짜 웬지 외로운 느낌? 한국의 일반 사회한테 왕따 된 느낌이 난단 말이에요. 이태운에서 외국인, 무슬림, 동성애자, 매춘부, 미군인. 원래 그 재밌는 요소들에서 맵고 뜨거운 짬뽕이 됐는데 한국 언론에서 나온 듯이 '위험성'이 그렇게 특별히 없어요. 뭐, 술취한 아저씨들이 신촌에서 볼 수 있는 만큼, 영등포에서 양아치 애들이 싸우고 싶고 남들한테 십이는 만큼, 뭐 그런 것처럼. 그냥 편견뿐이죠. 문신에 대해 생각할 때처럼.

If one travels the back streets of Itaewon all the way up to it highest point, there will be the a large mosque that is as beautiful as it is very unusual. Here, there is a feeling of solitude and serenity in being so singularly isolated and unusual; this is also true for the many foreigners, Muslims, gays, prostitutes, and American GI's who seem to find a sort of common ground in existing on the margins of mainstream Korean society. They come together in the fascinating mix that gives Itaewon its spicy and special flavor, quite without the "danger" with which many Koreans view the place. One can't say that Itaewon is worse or any more dangerous than a group of drunk, belligerent salarymen staggering around Shinchon, or a few wannabe-thugs in Yeongdeungpo looking for a point as well as a reason to pick a fight. Such assumptions are just due to harboring simple prejudices. So it goes with Korean society's attitude towards tattoos, which traditionally were only sported by yakuza-style gangsters and other "lowlifes."

지난 겨울에 명동에서 촬영하다가 우연히 이 멋진 커플을 만나게 됐는데 얘기 좀 나누어보니까 문신 아티스트이래요.

We bumped into this young couple after shooting in Myeongdong last winter, and after talking with them a bit, found out they had their own tattoo studio.

흥미스러운 건 한국에서 문신에 대한 생각은 좀 안좋은데 요즘에 많이 변하고 있대요. 그래야 돼요. 얼마나 아름다운데?

The interesting thing is that attitudes towards tattoos are changing nowadays, having become trendy in the way they have been for awhile in the West, yet still have yet to shake off many of their negative associations of existing among those living along the dark and dirty underbelly of Korean society. But they are undeniably beautiful when done well, and should truly be judged as works of art unto themselves and very much a personal choice.

After having agreed to do a piece for the Korea Herald, we contacted the tattoo artist, Kang Ji-min, and visited him in his studio.

얼마 깨끗한지 얼마나 프로정신으로 한지 아마 편견이 있는 사람들이 상상할 수 없는거예요. 하는 모습도 볼 수 있었고.

Most people with negative biases against tattooing would be surprised at how clean and professional everything is in the parlor. And they let us shoot them at work on a tattoo.

그리고 진짜 열정적으로 자기 문신을 보여줬어요.

And they eagerly modeled their own tattoos for our cameras.

얘기해보니끼 그 거 임심한 생태였어요! 이 커플이 그냥 커플아니라 완전히 경혼한 부부생활을 하고 있는 거죠. 몰랐죠? ㅋㅋㅋ 그럴 수 있죠, 뭐. 근데 원래 아주 말랐나봐요. 그 거 배가 나온 상태면. 부럽당! ㅋㅋ

While chatting during the shoot, we found out that the young lady was actually pregnant and starting to show, and that they were in fact a married couple! Didn't know, did you? Hehe. Well, why not? Just because they have tattoos doesn't mean they're any different from you or me. Except that if she was a few months pregnant in that picture, she must have been awfully slim before!

뭐 문신이 많아도 다른 일반사람들처럼 사랑에 빠지고 결혼도 하고 자기 좋아하는 분야에서 개인 사업을 하는 거죠. 그리고 누구나 생각해보면 아주 휼륭한 삶이 아닌가요?

I think this picture goes to show just how much people who look very different from you and me tend to be actually not so different from the rest of us. Here's a couple who fell in love, is starting a family, and is making a living off of what they both love to do, in something that inspires them both. And who could ask for anything more than that?

In the Fabulous Fashionistas column, we shoot the most fashionably original people we can find on the streets of Seoul and bring them to you. We don't choose them because they follow the trends the most closely, nor because they have the most designers labels attached to their bodies, but because they've managed to create their own unique style that one can't simply pass by without wanting to remember.

We met a lot of people on our trip to Hongdae last week, but the two young ladies we ran into in the park — Ms. Funky on the left and the Ms. Fifties on the right — really left an impression.

홍대에 지난 주말에 갔을 때 너무나 패션어블 사람들을 많이 만나봤는데 놀이터에서 우연히 만났던 이 두 언니들이 너무 특이한 거예요. 왼쪽의 친구는 좀 'funky'스타일이고 오른쪽은 '50년대 보수적인' 스타일의 컨셉이래요.

Wow. The orange-and-yellow checkered corset is cool as all get out, which Ms. Funky on the left said she bought from the clothing store she used to work at, which has since gone out of business. Since it wasn't a big brand item, anyway, it's now pretty much one-of-a-kind. As for Ms. Fifties on the right, we loved her old school hair and makeup, accented with the self-consciously cute, heart-shaped hairpins. Work it, girl!

우와. 오렌지/노란색 체크무늬의 코르셋은 재밌고 본인의 일했던 옷가게에서 샀대요. 근데 그 옷가게는 없어졌으니까 이 건 아주 특별한 거고일단 원래는 특별한 브랜드아니었고. 완전한 '시장 패션'이다! 우리 50년대의 공주의 머리스타일과 화장품을 맘에 드네요. 하트의 모양 머리핀도.

Dizzam. Wow. Jumpin' Jehosophat! Look at those old school, 50's secretarial stockings with the seam. I had a hunch they weren't purchased in Korea, and upon asking, she said that she had indeed purchased them on the Internet. Very nice, very Betty Boop. Or perhaps that would be Bettie Page? You can see a similar look here, which we found in Idae.

와우. 이런 스타킹을 한국에서 구하기 힘든 것같다고 생각해는데 물어보니까 역시 인터넷에서 샀대요. 진짜 Betty Boop을 생각하네. 아니면 Bettie Page? 여기도 이대에서 약간 비슷한 분위기있는 기사를 보지죠.

These two fabulous fashionistas are both into design, are eminently stylish, and are even forming their own band. Can they get much cooler? We do have the feeling we'll see them again, so we'll have to come back and check in on them sometime. And thanks to both of them for taking the time to both pose and answer our barrage of questions! Looking great, ladies!

이 멋진 여성들이 지금 디자인쪽에 일하는 거고 지금 밴드도 준비하는 거네요. 이 언니들한테 진짜 다시 볼 느낌이나는 것같네요. 궁금한 것들 진짜 많아서, 그쵸? 이 만큼 멋진 사람들을 실제로 만날 기회가 있었으니까 진짜 내 영광였죠. 이렇게 멋진 포즈와 긴 얘기를 해주니까 고마웠어요!

전작 ‘프린세스 다이어리’를 통해 변신의 여왕임을 증명했던 ‘앤 헤서웨이’가 또 다시 쫘좐~ 하고 변신하는 이야기를 선택한 순간, 당신은 이렇게 생각했을지 몰라요. 스트레스 팍팍 주는 사장 밑에서도 최고의 패셔니스트가 되어 주는 신데렐라 이야기겠지. 만약 정말 그랬다면 극장주에게 달려가 내 7천원을 돌려달라며 멱살이라도 잡았을 지 모를 일이죠.

사실 이 영화는 일에 찌든 중년의 가장이 아내와 함께 보기 가장 좋은 영화라 생각해요. 일에(혹은 편집장 미랜다에게) 쫓겨 살아가는 안드레아를 보면서 ‘내가 하루하루 저렇게 벌어먹고 산다.’ 라고 아내에게 말해보시라. 저녁 밥상이 달라질지 모릅니다.

주인공 안드레아는 패션에 목숨 거는 사람들은 도저히 이해가 안 된다는 소위 ‘지식인’입니다. 그런 그녀가 같은 패션지의 편집장 비서로 올려지는 건 더욱 이해가 안 되지만 어쨌든 그녀는 미래를 위해 그 일을 선택합니다. 그녀가 예상하지 못 했던 건 편집장 미랜다의 ‘일을 시키는 정도’였죠.

패션 잡지계의 여신, 미랜다. 사실 그녀의 말은 멀리 있는 신보다 훨씬 위대합니다. 이 은발의 악마 말이라면 100% 이행해야 한다는 잔인한 현실이 안드레아를 괴롭히죠.

그런데 잠깐. 미랜다를 단순히 ‘악마’라고 표현하는 것에는 이의를 제기하고 싶군요. 영화를 본 당신이라면 이해하겠지만, 그녀는 정말 악마라 불릴 만큼 매력적으로 악랄합니다. 하지만 그녀 또한 외로운 고민을 가진 사람일 뿐이에요. 편집장 자리를 지켜내고자 하는 무리한 시도들로 인해 더더욱 외롭고 미워지는 ‘사람’인 거죠. 영화는 그런 미랜다의 가치관은 무조건 옳지 않은 일이라는 듯, 안드레아를 회사에서 박차고 나오게끔 만듭니다. 패션에 목숨 거는 일이 나쁘지 않다는 것은 알았지만, 미랜다처럼 살고 싶지 않다는 선택을 내린 거죠.

그러나 미랜다의 삶의 방식은 정말 옳지 않은 걸까요. 약육강식의 세계에서 그녀가 살아남는 방법이 비열한 건 사실입니다. ‘That's all.' 매번 날려주는 그 말은 한 대 때려주고 싶을 정도로 우아한데 말이죠.

중요한 건 그런 그녀도 자기 나름의 고민과 아픔을 떠안고 살아간다는 겁니다. 자기 몫의 고통을 짊어지고 있는 이에게 무조건 나쁘다고 말할 수는 없잖아요? 게다가 패션에 미치는 게 뭐가 어때서! 일에 미치는 게 뭐가 나쁘다고!

만약 안드레아가 그 일을 정말 사랑했다면, 미랜다처럼 살면서도 비열한 방식은 쓰지 않는 법을 터득했을 겁니다. 그러나 그녀의 선택은 달랐죠. 그녀에게는 처음부터 편견이 있었고, 마지막까지 그것을 뛰어넘지 못 합니다. 그녀가 가장 비난 받아야 할 부분이죠.

문득 묻고 싶네요. 당신에게 당신의 구두는 어떤 의미인가요? 매일 매일 어떤 구두를 신어야 할지 고민하면서, 그 일이 인생에 어떤 영향을 줄 거라고 생각하나요? 내 대답은 ‘그렇지 않다’ 예요. 그저 즐기는 거죠. 구두가 인생에 큰 영향력을 행사한다면 좀 끔찍할 테니까요. 오늘 신은 핑크 빛 에나멜 슈즈가 내 하루를 반짝이게 해 줄 거라는 희망은 닭살 돋잖아요. 당신도 나도 알고 있어요. 패션은 즐기는 거고, 때문에 노력하게 되는 것이란 걸. 나이젤의 대사는 그 사실을 극명하게 알려주죠. “그럼 이 수십 조의 산업은 뭘 위해 있는 걸까? 내면의 아름다움을 위해?” 즐기고자 하는 사람에게 가장 즐길 거리를 내 주는 것. 그래서 그 수십 조의 산업이 위대한 것이겠죠. 거기서 내면의 아름다움은 잠시 잊어도 좋아요. 정말 가꾸기 어려운 게 무언지 우리는 알고 있으니까요.

그러니 이 영화를 보면서 애써 안드레아의 방식에 고개를 끄덕일 필요는 없습니다. 미랜다에게 더욱 매력을 느끼고, 그렇게 살아 봤음 좋겠다고 여기는 건 당연한 일이에요. 오늘 하루도 미랜다처럼 멋지게 살아보기 위해 근사한 구두를 골라내는 당신도 나쁘지 않다는 말이죠.

마지막으로, 너무나 사랑하는 배우 메릴 스트랩에게 찬사를 보냅니다. 그녀의 카리스마는 언제나 나에게 이 한 마디를 외치게 만들죠. “포스가 함께 하기를!” That's all~!

2주일전에 이번 봄 시즌의 첫 따뜻한 토요일 밤에 홍대로 갔었는데 사람들이 진짜로 뭘 입고 다니는지 어떤 트렌드 정말로 표현하게 되고 있는지 한번 보러 왔어요. 왜냐하면 요즘에 홍대는 그냥 한가지의 스타일이나 룩이 된 것아니라 정말 서울의 패션 중심이 된 거예요. 다른 동네보다 패션 룩의 범위가 아주 넓으며 유행 옷부터 펑크, 야한 클러브 옷부터 남자친구를 만날 때 얌전한 드레스까지, 미국/일본 그리고 한국스러운 옷도 다 보일 수 있거든요.

Two weeks ago, I took a walk through Hongdae on a Saturday night, and the first real warm night of spring. I just wanted to see what people were really wearing, and looking for anyone who caught my eye. Hongdae has truly become one of the most interesting fashion centers of Seoul, since it has such a variety of styles, encompassing everything from prevalent trends to punk, from the most risque to the most conservative, from American, Japanese, to the most Korean looks.

노란색 코트를 입는 여자를 봤는데 너무 색깔과 디자인 좋아서 잡았어요. 'Earth tone'으로(연한 회색에서 검은 갈색에 이르는 난색조) 코디 되게 잘한 거네요. 노란색이랑 초록색과 칼색. 웬지 이 친구의 피부색이랑 어울린 것같았어요. 아 - 그리고 내가 실수해서 어쩔 수없이 포샵에서 조금 컨닝해야 했어요. 그래서 색감이 조금 이상하죠. 미안!

I saw the flash of yellow and soon had my first catch of the day! I liked the yellow, the green, and brown earth tones. The colors also seemed to match her skin tone well. I was having a bit of trouble with the flash, so I cheated a bit with Photoshop to save this picture.

You know that fashion starts from the bottom, and she had great stockings — I liked the way they bunched up and kind of looked more like tube socks than real thigh-highs. It made the look more casual.
