“행복한 일들은 기다리는 이들에게 찾아온다”는 말은 역시 좋고 맞는 말이네요. 우리 사이트에서도 그렇네요. 벌써 쇼하기 전 그리고 쇼하기 후에도 글을 올렸지만 아직은 우리 비그 디엠씨 스토리가 안나온 거예요. 엄청나게 사진들을 많이 찍었으니까 편집하기 너무 오래 걸렸는데 이젠 우리 Seoulienne이란 인턴은 그 글을 다 썼고 번역해줬으니까 거의 다 준비가 된 거네요. 사진들이 너무 많은데 질이 좋은 사진들이라서 기다릴 만한 거예요. 우리 사이트의 FMS 스타일을 아시죠?

It’s said that “good things come to those who wait” and that’s definitely true here. Although we did both pre-show and post-show pieces on the DMC event, our intern Seoulienne has finished with her great write-up of the Hard Rock Cafe opening from a couple weeks ago, and I’m almost done with the many, many pictures. Korean hip-hop fashion in the house!

그리고 티비에서도 나왔네요! (3번째 이야기/Part 1) 못 보셨으면 Hard Rock Cafe의 VIP 오페닝 파티했을 때 우연히 만난 “Feel the Groove“의 호스트들이랑 얘기하게 됐는데 (우리 인턴이 그들을 알아봤으니까 — 나이스!) ExpatJane(윈쪽)하고 우리 인턴이랑 MP3로 인터뷰를 녹음했어요. 근데 그 쪽에서도 준비되어 있었나봐요! 사방에 카메라들이 막 나왔는데 나중에 보니까 MNet에서 나왔네요! 허걱!

Also, we got on TV! (part 1 of the 3rd episode, and for those who can’t read Korean, it’s the one with the thumbnail of the girl against a green background, or search the page for the term “DMC”) For those of you who missed it, we sat down for an interview with the hosts of “Feel the Groove” (after our astute intern recognized them from TV and grabbed them — nice one!), whom we met at the Hard Rock VIP party, with ExpatJane (far left) and our intern Seoulienne asking the questions all on tape. And we ended up on MNet just a few days later! Dizzang!

그리고 돌아다니면서 아는 얼굴도 많이 봤는데 — Dynamic Duo처럼. 근데 이 녀석들이 진짜 똑똑하고 빠르네요. 특히 부폐 줄에 들어가야하면… ㅋㅋㅋ

And we bumped into all sorts of familiar faces, such as The Dynamic Duo. They beat me to the roast beef, too. They fast, especially when hungry!

세계에서 가장 유명한 래퍼들 중에 수욜 밤에 서울에 왔어요. 진짜 최고였는데. 근데 사진을 너무 많이 찍었으니까 아직도 편집중이예요. 그래도 재밌는 샷 조금 모였어요.

One of the most famous rappers in history came to Seoul last night. And he was awesome. I’m still processing a lot of pictures, but I’ve got a little bit of what I saw last night.

너무나 유명해서 ‘기타 영웅’(Guitar Hero)이란 비디오 게임의 최근 버전에서 디엠씨는 나와요. 너무 잘 만들어서 정말 꼭 봐야 되는 거네요. RUN-DMC의 가장 유명한 가사들중에 대표적인 몇가지 모였네요. 비디오 바로 시작하면 나오는 가사는:

And hey — did you know they’re even making a video game out of it! Seriously — you HAVE to watch this! This is for the next installment of the “Guitar Hero” video game. Some of DMC’s most famous lines are in it, starting with:

물론 영어 시나 랩은 압운형식대로 가사를 만들어 되니까 재밌게 나오잖아요. 그래서 번역하면 느낌이 너무 떨어지는데 그래도 목소리 톤과 말하는 태도와 감정을 직접 느낄 수 있죠.

Of course, the fun part of rap lyrics in English is the rhyme and slang, and these get totally get lost in translation. But the power of his voice doesn’t, and DMC (along with the Dynamic Duo and other great Korean rap acts) was in full effect last night.

5월 11일 두둥. 드디어 그가 왔다. The Cobra Snake(밑에)를 통해 알게된 Steve Aoki.

Dum, da, da, dummm… He’s finally here. Steve Aoki, whom I came to know through The Cobra Snake.

FMS와 함께 섹시한 그를 가까이서 볼 수 있는 영광과 인터뷰까지!

It was an honor to get up close and personal with the sexy man himself!

Steve의 명성답게 이 날 많은 연예인과 모델, 패션디자이너의 모습도 볼 수 있었는데 그 중 단연 최고는 모델 배정남씨였다.

Although it was an honor to see all kinds of models and fashion designers that day because of Steve, I was most happy to meet model Bae Jung-nam.

Whatchu lookin’ at? / 뭘봐?

리듬에 몸을 맡긴 그를 발견! FMS의 사진 요청에 흔쾌히 수락해 주었고, (사실 묻지도 않고 카메라를 들이대었는데 그의 특유의 찡그린 멋스런 표정과 포즈로 먼저 맞아주었다.) 같이 사진을 찍을 수 있는 영광이 야호 꺅!

We bumped into each other on the dance floor, and happily agreed to pose for FMS’s camera (actually, before we even asked him, he had already struck a manly-man pose with a funny expression). It was an honor to get a shot with him!

런웨이에서 자주 볼 수 있는 모델 앤드류도 함께 했었다. (So Cute!)

We also got to meet the famous runway model Andrew Gordon. (Cute!)

오사카에서 지친몸을 이끌고 와서 끝내주는 무대를 보여준 Steve와 수많은 멋쟁이들 그리고 FMS와 함께해서 12일 새벽까지 나는 무한에너지로 흥겹게 즐길 수 있었다.

I got a recharge in energy from watching Steve, who must have been exhausted by his touring and a flight in from Osaka, along with FMS and the many fashionable people we partied with all through the night of the 12th.

덕분에 지금 근육통으로 고생하고 있다. 하하하. 담에 또 신나는 파티에서 만나요!!

Thanks to that party, my legs are killing me. Hehe. But regardless, we’ll see each other at the next party!

So how was the party, you ask? I’m too tired to do a real post, but will give you a preview here. There are too many pictures to look through, too much to process.

한마디로 말하면 존나 좋았지! Cut Chemist는 제대로 믹싱했고 관객들이랑 너무 친절하게 지냈어요. 나와서 관객들의 목소리를 녹음하고 그 샘플을 리믹싱 했네요. 역시 재능이 있는 사람이네.

In short, it was doper than a smoker on payday, fresher than a lemoned up lime. The Cut Chemist dropped mad science and got friendly with the crowd.

역시 Steve Aoki도 진짜 관객의 참여를 좋아하는 거네요. 아니. 연기자의 참여아닌가요? ㅋㅋ

Steve Aoki is also big on audience participation. He really throws himself into his work. Actually, wouldn’t this be better called “performer participation?” Hehe.

책에다가 사인해주고…

And on, umm, boobies…

일단 역시 관객들이 음악에 넋을 완전히 잃었어요.

And he definitely kept the crowd entranced.

지금은 너무 피곤해서 다시 자야 되겠어. 근데 Riskei House에계 진짜로 고맙다는 것을 전하고 싶고 파티를 정말 잘 준비한 거예요. 근데 지금은 자료가 너무 많아서 다음에 정리해서 긴 글을 올릴께요!
