길거리에서 가게에서 기다리고 있었는데 우연히 우리 독자를 만나게 됐네요! 홍데에 있는 클럽 카고에서 촬영했을 때 만나게 됐는데 또 거기로 가고 있었대요. 근데 그냥 간 거아니었고 자기 서울여대에서 콘돔을 사용하라 홍보하고 있었네요. 진짜 맞는 말이다. 한국에서는 아무 다른 나라만큼 성관계하는데 유난히 남들한테 한다는 사실 인정안 하려고 하는 거예요. 물론 ‘문화’이란 특징인데 거부할 수 없는 현실도 있어요. 섹스할 때 콘돔을 써야 성병 예방이죠. 비임을 떠나서. 그리고 20살 부터 성관계하든 안하든 1년씩 산부인과에 좀 가보세요! 성관계 안해도 관리해야 되고 그리고 대부분 20대 남자/여자친구랑 성관계하니까 꼭 6개월이나 1년씩 검사해야 된대요. 미국에서는 사춘기 때는 그렇게 시작한 이유는 빨리 성관계를 시작하는 거아니라 (통계적으로 보면 미국/한국 마찬가지로 사람들이 30%정도 고등학생 때 첫 경험을 한대요) 기본 규칙적으로 해야되는 검사이예요. 뜨겁게 사랑하려면 책임을 져야죠?

While waiting in a store, we bumped into one of our readers, whom we first met a couple months ago at Club Cargo in Hongdae. But she wasn’t just out for partying, but for protection! To help protect us from sexually transmitted disease (STD’s) by urging us to USE protection. Condoms, that is! And that’s a really good message to spread, which she’s doing as part of her activities as a student at Seoul Women’s University. And in addition to helping spread the word about condom use, we’ll also add that adult women should be making regular visits to the gynecologist. Yet, many adult women never see a gynecologist until they marry, which is a real problem, since many women here are sexually active for 1, 5, or 10 years before that. Most Americans start in their late teens, and are told to get a checkup at least every 6-12 months. And it’s not because Americans are having more sex than in any other country (statistically speaking, both Americans and Koreans start having sex around the same age, with around 30% of people reporting their first sexual experience in high school), but because that’s simply what one has to do in the modern era.

근데 안좋은 사실은 한국에서는 ‘결혼할 때만 산부인과 간다’ 그리고 ‘우리 남자친구가 깨끗하다’는 생각들을 아직도 많이 하는 거예요. 두 가지 생각은 잘 못 된 생각이고 그리고 같이 하면 진짜 위험하다고요. 근데 아직도 한국에서는 성적인 얘기를 잘 안하더라고요. 네이버에 알아보니까 “콘돔’을 입력하면 ‘성인전용 카테고리’이네요. 아무리 성인 웹사이트에 못 들어가게 해야 되겠지만 기본 성교육에 대해서 무슨 정보를 못 구하는 것까지 하면 안되잖아요. 근데 이 건 아직도 바로 한국 스타일이네요. 그 열심히 성병예방 홍보하는 학생은 진짜 좋은 활동을 하고 있네요! 화이팅!

And even if you aren’t sexually active, you should get such exams. We know that talking about sex and acknowledging that you have it is hard in Korea. But culture is one thing, reality another. The ideas that “you only need to see a gynecologist if you’re married” and “my boyfriend is clean, so I don’t need condoms” are both equally bad ideas that are even WORSE in combination. Unfortunately, the reality is that in Korea, there is still so much embarrassment and stigma to such topics that even in Naver, doing a search in Korean for “condom” brings up the 18+ verification page. Sigh. In Korea, the cultural embarrassment over talking about sex still makes people think it’s something for “adults only” and best done behind closed doors in hushed tones. Anyway, to that student spreading the good news about sexual health, keep fighting the good fight!

Steve의 명성답게 이 날 많은 연예인과 모델, 패션디자이너의 모습도 볼 수 있었는데 그 중 단연 최고는 모델 배정남씨였다.

Although it was an honor to see all kinds of models and fashion designers that day because of Steve, I was most happy to meet model Bae Jung-nam.

리듬에 몸을 맡긴 그를 발견! FMS의 사진 요청에 흔쾌히 수락해 주었고, (사실 묻지도 않고 카메라를 들이대었는데 그의 특유의 찡그린 멋스런 표정과 포즈로 먼저 맞아주었다.) 같이 사진을 찍을 수 있는 영광이 야호 꺅!

We bumped into each other on the dance floor, and happily agreed to pose for FMS’s camera (actually, before we even asked him, he had already struck a manly-man pose with a funny expression). It was an honor to get a shot with him!

I got a recharge in energy from watching Steve, who must have been exhausted by his touring and a flight in from Osaka, along with FMS and the many fashionable people we partied with all through the night of the 12th.

덕분에 지금 근육통으로 고생하고 있다. 하하하. 담에 또 신나는 파티에서 만나요!!

According to PopSeoul, Harisu and hubby are still in love, as displayed in the star shots taken at Hwang Jae-bok’s show during the F/W 2008 Seoul Fashion Week. We were there, and got our own pics of the the still-happy couple, although ours were properly exposed. This is the second time we’ve met Harisu in person, and I must say that we do like her demure and classy style. Love the purse!

커미디안 안선영씨는 갑자기 패션쇼에 모델로 나왔을 때는 난리났네요. 런웨이 옆어 앉았던 하리수, 안연홍, 그리고 다른 연예인들이 응원하러 왔더라고요. 쇼가 끝나서 백스테이지에 가서 안선영씨까 방송국이랑 인터뷰를 하면서 안연홍의 사진을 찍었네요. 다들 대게 친절한 거네요!

Comedian Ahn Seon-yeong also made an appearance at the show, by actually being IN the show, and was a hit with fellow actors cheering in support on the runway. Harisu and hubby were in attendance, as was Ahn Yeon-hong, whom we snapped backstage waiting for the other Ahn’s interview to finish.

You see, I’m starting to worry about your health. I know you spent all summer carefully controlling your sun exposure to make sure your legs had the perfect amount of summer glow. It’s good you work out to keep your gams in glamorous shape. The gentlemen on the streets have certainly appreciated all the effort you’ve put into making sure you look sharp in your miniskirts and short shorts.

왜냐하면 너의 건강에 대해 걱정 많이 하기 때문이에요. 여름동안 햇볕에 보기 좋게 태웠고 운동을 해서 다리가 아름다워졌죠. 그래서 미니나 반바지 입을 때 찐자 멋있게 보였어요. 길에 걸어가다가 남자들이 깊게 감사했겠요.

But my friends, there comes a time when you just have to admit you’re freezing your poor little butts off out there running around like it’s still twenty five degrees and sunny outside. It’s not. It’s freezing. Literally. If you don’t believe me, just look back a few posts ~ that’s snow!

그런데 . . . 친구들아, 기온이 얼마나 낮은지 아세요? 0!!! 참, 눈이 온대요!

Zero degrees outside, and you’re still running around with fifteen centimeters or more of bare leg. Oftentimes not even a sheer patterned stocking to shield your chilled knees!

기온이 영하지만 아직도 스타킹만큼 안써고 있어요? 아이고, 저런.

It’s more than just your health at risk, but your fashion cred. Just like in nature, fashion has seasons and the wise fashionista watches both. Micro-minis and shorts are perfect for summer, but when you’re running around in the same outfit six months later in the snow it’s no longer the perfect outfit. Yes, you’re still turning heads, but the looks you’re getting are not admiring your fine S-line. Instead, they’re questioning your sanity.

건강에다가 패션 센스를 위험에 맡기고 있어요. 자연처럼 파션에 계철 있고 똑똑한 사람들 두게 같이 이해해야 해요. 여름에 잛은 치마와 반바지는 아주 귀엽지만 6개월후에 계속 같은 스타일 입으면 안 예쁘을 것이다. 많은 사람들이 보고 있는데 S-line을 감사 안하겠어요. 오히러 제정신인지 의심하겠어요.

I’m not saying you have to dress like Mother Teresa or bundle up like you’re going on an mission to Antarctica. Let’s just keep in mind that there’s more than one way to look fashionable, many of which don’t involve freezing to death. And since looking good involves more than just the clothes, remember too that cold, dry winter air is rough on the skin. Chilblains and hypothermia just ain’t sexy. Put the short shorts and skirts on vacation for a while, and they’ll seem that much fresher when you bring them out again later ~ sometime next summer.

Mother Teresa나 남국 지방에 가기 위한 옷말고, 그냥 따뜻한 옷 입으면서 피부를 지킬수 있어요. 동상, 떨림과 저체온이 정말 섹시하지 않아요. 겨을에 여름 옷을 입지 마세요. 나중에 다시 입을때 얼마나 좋겠어요. . . 여름에 싱싱한 느낌을 기지고 있을 것이다!
