우리 “길거리 스타일” 컬럼은 개인의 패션 선택만 벤치마킹 하는 것이아니라, 차라리 대표적인 길거리에서 보일 수 있는 패션 장르를 잡으려고 해요.

“Street Styles” tracks not just individual fashion choices, but tries to capture fashion that is representative of types of fashion genres visible on the Korean streets.

Four brand-new high school girls — freshly graduated from middle school — proudly sport their fresh, new high school uniforms on the first day of the spring semester. All friends from the same middle school, now these young ladies have donned separate uniforms from their new high schools as they begin the journey to fresh new identities. These girls struck my eye because they were obviously young and very happy to don their brand-new uniforms, but all from different schools. I didn’t have my big flash, so I just made do with my onboard one and tried to control it manually. Wasn’t what I wanted, but the shots came out nice and “realistic,” I guess. Very snapshot-like.

Note the trend of hiking up skirts well above regulation (the girl third from left actually is wearing hers at the proper length); and many of the girls this age are also rocking New Balance and other running shoes instead of the standard Converses.

이 멋쟁이 커플을 신촌의 뒷골목에서 찍고 싶었어요.진짜 컬러플하고 도시적인 배경이라서요.

A great couple I caught between alleyways. I like his dapper casual and her cute casual.

이 남자는 정말 흥미스러운 콤비네이션을 입고 있고 여자의 부츠도 좋아요!

I think the guy’s pretty funkdafied. And I like her boots.

이 잡았전 대학원생의 상체는 아주 캐주얼한데 하체는 차차차! 멋지다!

Now, this young graduate student is interesting, with her conservative top and sassy bottom.

아마 그녀의 구두의 옆모습을 좀더 잘찍어야 했는데. 근데 참 흥미스러운 룩이죠?

I should’ve gotten more of the sides of her shoes. But I think she gets points for pure funkiness.

These boots WERE made for walking! I love the gritty city-ness of this shot.

이 우아해보이는 미녀들을 멕시코식당에 들어가는 길에 잡았어요.두명다 구두짱!

Met these two classy young ladies in evening dresses on their way to a Tex-mex meal. Love the shoes, on both girls.

마지막으로 우리 맨처음에 나온 커플로끝내고 싶다. 우리 카메라를 앞에서 자연스럽게 했고 제밌는 포즈도 해줬네요. 진짜 고마워요!

이 친구들이 밴드 멤버들이 한다고 했는데 아주 패션어블이더라고요. KBS1 카메라맨이랑 막 돌아다니면서 만났던 거예요. 진짜 ‘히피’룩도 있지만 그 것보다 좀 멋진 ‘보히미언’룩도 있었네요. 그리고 홍보포스터도 진짜 화려하고 재밌었네요.

These members of a band whom we bumped into in the playground up there were quite bohemian in a very fashionable way. Layers, scarves, and hats. The young lady had a flyer that was quite trippy, dude.

진짜 친절하고 흥미스러운 사람들이었어요. 그리고 모델을 해주셔서 감사합니다! 역시 홍대는 제일 다양한 스타일이 있네요.

저희는 만난지 600백일이 넘은 커플입니다. 지금은 둘다 22살이구요, 초등학교 동창으로. 서로 안면이 있는 사이였습니다. 그러나 연락은 하지않았죠 20살때까지는요 ^^

뭐, 이러면 안되지만 같이 일하는곳에 있는 동생이 남자를 소개시켜 너무 심하게 쫄라서. 제 인맥에 있는 남자들을 샅샅히 뒤졌습니다, 전화번호는 알고있었지만 평생 연락은 안하고 살던 지금의 제 남자친구에게 연락을 했고, 정말 이쁜 아는 동생 소개시켜 준다고 했죠, 그런식으로 해서 자리가 마련되었는데 ~ 그곳에서 모든일이 일어난거죠. 지금의 제 남자친구가 절 오랫만에 봐서 그런진 모르겠지만 처음보는순간 자기 이상형이라고 하더군요. 첫눈에 딱! 알았답니다, 얘는 내꺼다. ..!!

저는 뭐 그런걸 몰랐으니 당연히 소개시켜주는 동생을 밀어주려 애썼고 그러게 그자리는 끝이 났습니다. 그런데 이게 왠일입니까 그다음날 일끝나고 동생과 같이 퇴근을 하는데, 앞에 꽃다발을 들고있는 한남자가 서있더라구요.

We’re a couple that’s met for more than 600 days. We’re both 22, but met back in elementary school, so we knew each other. Still, we didn’t keep in touch over the years, until we were 20.

Well, even though it shouldn’t have happened this way, it all started after a younger friend of mine kept at me about introducing her to a guy. Since I do know a lot of guys from different places in my life, I decided to introduce her to the guy who’s now my boyfriend — I had his contact information, since I already knew him; I just hadn’t gotten in touch with him since we had been kids. So, I called him, and told him that I’d introduce him to a really pretty friend of mine. That’s how everything got started. I don’t know if my present boyfriend had always liked me, when I first laid eyes on him after all these years, I knew he was the one for me. I knew at first sight! Even though I know that sounds corny…

Still, I didn’t do anything about it and went along with pushing my friend in his direction, and left it at that. But then the most surprising thing happened: the next day, while my friend and I were getting off work, there he was, standing right out in front, holding a bouquet of flowers.

저는 우와 동생이 진짜 맘에 들었나 부다, 꽃도 선물받고 ^^ 이렇게 생각하고 있었는데 너무 난처하게도 당황스럽게도 그 꽃을 옆에 동생이아닌 저에게 주는것이었습니다! 장난인줄 알았는데, 아니더라구요. 그자리에서 동생에게 미안하기도하고, 너무 당황스럽기도 했으나. 동생은 이해를 해주더라구요, ㅠㅠ 지금생각하면 미안하지만요.

그렇게 계속적으로 남자애는 애정공세를 해왔고 저도 모르게, 제 마음이 흔들리고 어떨‹š는 두근두근대고, 어떨때는 보고싶기도 했어요. 그래서, 그렇게 저희는 커플이 되었습니다^^ 그래서 지금까지 이렇게 사랑을 지켜왔구요. 앞으로도 계속 지켜나갈 예정입니다. 1년정도 사귀고 남자친구가 군입대를 했는데요. 지금은 벌써 군대입대한지 170일이 되었습니다 ^^

참 신기하게도 첫휴가 나온날^^~~ 저희가 신촌가서 사진두 찍히고 ^^ 너무 기분 좋았습니다.

아무튼 조은추억 만들어주셔서 감사하구요 ^^

So I thought, “Wow. He must really like my friend, giving her flowers like that.” That’s what I was thinking when, to my great surprise that left me at a loss for words, he wasn’t giving them to my friend, but to me! I thought he was just kidding, but he wasn’t. Even though I felt really bad about this to my friend. But she was understanding about it. I still feel badly about it when I think about it, though.

After continuing to show how affection like that, at some point, I started to have feelings for him, even to start to miss him when we were apart. That’s the way we became a couple. And we’ve maintained our love all this time, and plan to into the future. After about a year of being together, my boyfriend went into the army. Now, it’s been 170 days since he went in.

It’s really cool that on our first date since he went into the army, and upon going to Shinchon, we had our picture taken together. That really made me feel good.

Anyway, thanks for making a good memory for us.
