데코라이란 걸 아세요? 우연히 서울역근처에 다니다가 코스플레이 하는 것처럼 보이었는데 물어보니까 아니더라고요. ‘데코라‘라고요. 근데 밑에 친구가 너무 부끄럽대요. 왜냐하면 진짜 데코라 옷을 제대로 안 입었대요. 미리 알았으면 100% 옷을 잘 입었을 거래요. 이 건 ‘캐쥬얼 데코라‘인가요? ㅋㅋ 멋지다, 우리 핑크 친구야!

Do you know “decora?” Well, upon bumping into this pink young lady in front of Seoul Station, we found out all about it. It’s a little different from “cosplay” (Japanese “costume play”) and seems to involve lots of decorations. Pink ones. The young lady we talked was actually disappointed, as apparently she wasn’t in full decora gear. If only she had known! Ah, such is life. But we get the idea, and learned something new firsthand. The power of pink!

In the Fabulous Fashionistas column, we shoot the most fashionably original people we can find on the streets of Seoul and bring them to you. We don’t choose them because they follow the trends the most closely, nor because they have the most designers labels attached to their bodies, but because they’ve managed to create their own unique style that one can’t simply pass by without wanting to remember.

이 매력적인 친구는 기차역에서 봤는데 ‘사진을 찍어도 되냐’고 물어볼까 했는데 다른 파트너들이랑 같이 있었던 거아니었고 너무 피곤했어요. 기차를 타기전에는 물어보기 싫어했단 말이예요. 근데 자리 찾아보니까 앉아 있더라고요.

I first saw this funky young lady while waiting for a train to Seoul, but was too tired to want to ask for a picture, and wasn’t with anyone else, so I just didn’t have the energy. But when I boarded the train and found my seat, guess who was sitting next to me?

물어보니까 패션쪽에 관심이 많다는 학생이고 홍대에서 멋진 빠에서 알바도 한대요. 그래서 색다른 패션을 만들었군. 진짜 개성이 나오는 거네요. 그렇게 튜브양말을 신고 다니는 걸 처음 봤네요.

Turns out that she’s a student very interested and into fashion and works in a cool bar in the Hongdae area. That explains the funky fashion. As well as the personality she’s expressing through her clothes. I’ve never seen tube socks rocked in quite a fashionable yet natural way.
