Tattoos seem to have reached the “tipping point” in Korea, and have mainstreamed enough to become acceptable. Lots more kids are sporting them, more of them are real and not temporary tats (although those are also really popular), and now stars are proudly showing off their ink. Korea Beat has the full translation from this story from Sports Korea.
Also, our site’s been covering tattooing in Korea for a while now. Check out our older posts here and here and here to see some stuff, as well as our story on it in the Korea Herald. And don’t forget, our fashion diarist (and preeminent fashion leader!) Senan has been using tattoos as a means of self-expression far before it started becoming the fad it is today. So do remember to keep up with her column as well!

Tattoos in Korea?
Well check out Jamwan pool in Hangang Park. I was shocked about how many tattoos can be seen. More than at a pool in America or Europe for sure! And some big pieces too.
Maybe it was the time I went though: Weekday AM. I heard that’s when Seoul’s Ladies of the Night go to tan.
Bikinis, high heels and back tattoos anyone?
I wonder if you’ve seen people taking pictures in that pool? I’d love to do a tattoo story! And bikinis, heels, and back tattoos — oh, my!
