멀티매거진 for your fashion fetish…
According to The New York Times, there’s a new trend rising in the streets of Tokyo: vending machine costumes and other portable pieces of fashion that one can use to hide oneself or one’s belongings. If you are being chased, you can simply pull out the costume, pull it over oneself, and hide amongst the many, many others. Like the Predator in the movie of the same name, one can just disappear.
And actually, it’s more realistic-looking than I thought! I mean, if it were dark, the ajussi stumbling after you was drunk, and you had a bank of other vending machines to stand by, sure – I think I could be fooled. Really.
This sort of thing is so truly Japanese, though. A little weird, a little practical, and inevitably, very funny. But the real breakthrough will come with a costume that is actually functional: what if a passersby wants to order something from you? Then your cover’s blown! They have to make one that actually serves up coffee or Coke on command. That would be a real feat of Japanese technical ingenuity, now, wouldn’t it? Anyway, watch the slideshow!

But will it light up at night? Better hope you’re being chased in the daytime, I guess . . .or carrying authentic ninja black blankets. It’s a cute idea, but not so very practical or realistic. I admire her ingenuity though. Actually, it would be a really cute pattern on fabric anyway, so why not turn them into regular clothes?
Yes and no re the lights. Sometimes lights go out in one machine and not in another. What would suck is if someone tried to actually buy from you while you’re hiding. The thing is, maybe it’s because I’m a tourist but I’ve yet to be in fear while walking around Japan. Now one time in Thailand, I was sure I was going to get jumped.
I love the creativity of it. If only they had vending machines like that everywhere in the States. I know I’d buy one as soon as I move home
That brings a whole new meaning to camouflage. O_O
Let’s just hope terrorists don’t get a hold of this breakthrough uhh…”technology.” ROFLMAO
^ LOL i hope not..
