강북과 강남의 스타일들이 만난다! 마포역 근처에 이 두 옷을 화려하게 입은 여성들이 눈에 띈 거예요. 진짜 컬러플하다! 이 도시적인 백경이랑 정말 멋진 컷이죠?

The young lady on the left wears a more north-of-the-Han-River style (kangbuk), remixing the trendy items popular amongst the domestic Korean crowd, while our model on the right does more of her own thing, and a bit more risquely, with sparkles, a club dress, and bright red 12-13cm spike heels that would tend to be found south-of-the-river (kangnam).

우리 Kittenita이란 친구/포토 조수와 같이 새로운 플래쉬 기술을 실험하고 찍을 만한 멋쟁이를 찾으러 홍대로 갔었어요. 근데 택시에서 내리자마자 Kittenita의 눈에 확 띈 여자가 지내고 있는 거예요. 뒷골목에 들어가서 말을 걸었어요. 보니까 이 이쁜 에스닉드레스를 입는 여자분이 의사선생님이고 참 예쁘시네요! 확인해보니 사실 이 옷은 캠보디아에서 온 거래요. 역시 여즘에 서울의 길거리에서 에스닉드레스와 외국에서 수입된 것들이 더 보일 수 있네요.

Friend and friendly photo assistant Kim and I went over to Hongdae for a little experimentation with some new flash techniques and to look for some interesting fashionables. As soon as we got out of the taxi, there she was! Kim had spotted her and we followed her into a back alley, where we asked for a few minutes of her time. She spoke fluent English and was more than willing to oblige. Turns out she is a doctor and was out for a rare day off from the hospital. And in terms of clothing, it turns out her beautiful, long dress is from Cambodia. One is seeing more and more “ethnic” imports, as well as nice pieces picked up overseas these days. She was certainly rocking it!

그리고 이 슬리퍼식 은색 샌달이 참 이쁘네요.

내가 봤을 땐 삶에 사소한 일, 작은 항목들이 먼제 눈에띄는 거예요. 그리고 어떤 삼청동에 있는 커피샵에빨간색 전투부츠를 신는 여자를 보게 되면 주의가그 쪽으로 가잖아요.

For me, it’s the little things that I notice, the details that jump out at you. And when a woman walks into a coffee shop in red combat boots, you take note.

불어보니까 역시 온라인 쇼핑몰의 촬영하러 온 거래요. Luxury Girl이라고요. 진짜 볼만하네요. 특히 사진작가가 잘하나봐요. 역시 사진의 수준이 옷의 멋만큼 높네요. 그 사이트 스타일이 진짜 괜찮다.

Turns out that she came to Samcheong-dong as part of a catalog shoot for an online shopping mall called “Luxury Girl.” Really — go check it out. Their photography is quite good, on the same level with their taste in clothes. The stuff is pretty sharp.

나가면서 또 다른 그 카페의 손님이 내 눈에 띈 거예요. 아주 단순한 하양 원피스와 칼색 벨트를 입고 있는데 정말 그녀의 썬탠된 피부색이랑 따 어울리는 거예요. 실제로 모면 훨씬 더 그 효과를 느끼는 거예요. 그리고 역시 한국식이다: 스커트라인이 얼마 높은데 어깨는 역시 가린 거네요. 그 건 대표적인 한국 스타일 원피스예요.

Another patron caught my eye on the way out, in her simple white dress and brown belt. It seemed to go so well with her tanned skin that the effect was quite stunning in person. In typical Korean style, the hemline is high, with covered shoulders, and actually, sleeves in this case.

Very cute.

The key words are big, bold, and bright–everything from kicks to baseball caps. Cheap and easy to style, this trend is embraced by fashion nonconformists, also known as the teenage demographic.

운동화에서 야구모자 까지 모두 크고, 과감하고, 밝은 색상이다. 스타일링하기 손쉽고 가격이 저렴하게 연출 할 수 있는 이 트랜드는 패션 선두주자라고도 할 수 있는 10대들의 사랑을 받고 있다.

Simple and clean-cut designs and loud patterns are perfect coordinates. The growing popularity of American Apparel seems to prove Koreans’  love for unique and provocative cuts of easy designs, along with candy-colored clothing–a throwback to the 80s, with a modern edge to it.

심플하고 맵시있는 디자인은 화려한 패턴이랑 같이 코디하는게 좋다. 국내 American Apparel의 심플한 디자인의 파격적인 변신, 또는 80년대를 연상케하는 “캔디 컬러”가 인기를 많이 누리고 있다.

Colorful, unique leggings and sneakers still catch the eyes of passerbys in the Hongdae, Myeongdong districts. But the three Bs don’t have to be limited to clothing and shoes. Try adding more color into your make-up collection. Bold-colored eyeshadow or lip can do a lot for the whole face.

홍대와 명동 바닥에서는 밝고 독특한 색상의 레깅스와 운동화는 아직도 사람들의 시선을 잡고 있다. 그러나 이 트랜드 옷과 신발 외에도 화장으로도 연출이 가능하다. 과감한 색상의 아이섀도나 입술은 얼굴 전체에 화색을 돌게 할 수 있다.
