fashion is fetish is fabulous is fun is fantastic!
“Fabulous Fashionistas”
In the “Fabulous Fashionistas” column, we shoot the most fashionably original people we can find on the streets of Seoul and bring them to you. We don’t choose them because they follow the trends the most closely, nor because they have the most designers labels attached to their bodies, but because they’ve managed to create their own unique style that one can’t simply pass by without wanting to remember.

i’m wondering if they’re waiting for their girlfriends and are watching their purses for them… or if they call them their man bags^^
Nice to see what the guys are wearing too
Love the outfits with the casual shoes.
@jayun my vote goes toward “man bags”
They are carrying their own bags, of course! I have a feeling that Korean men who are the metro must have a bag to complete their outfit.
love this outfit and the shoes totally perfects the look but not feeling the LV bag.
These dudes are so stylin. Those bags are HUGE though. They are rather oversize murses (man-purses). It only brings more attention to the fact that they are carrying around purses. I’d consider dating a guy that carries one of these around though, maybe he’d let me put all my random stuff in there so I wouldn’t have to schlep it around.
“i’m wondering if they’re waiting for their girlfriends and are watching their purses for them… or if they call them their man bags^^”
I think first 2 points are wrong, Jayun:
1) they may be waiting for their boyfriends (no offense here, no prejudice either. Just don’t think girlfriends are part of the equation)
2) these are their purses: although called “man bags”, they look ridiculously feminine for them
By the way, I think that snickers (or all-stars/converse) totally ruin the outfit (and some will say that this is what makes it great).
If the kids had a nice pair of shoes, they would be 1000 times more elegant and sharp. Those gray paints call a black shoe, not a white snicker.
Somebody said here before: these kids grow up wearing suits with snickers for school, and think that the combination is correct. The picture shows what happens with them in the future, consequence of their twisted fashion values!
And the boy on the left…well, he should know that, when sitting down, the jacket should remain open. Still young, he will learn…
Maximus,
Have you ever been punched? Because I’d really love to.You’re placing rules where you have no business placing them. Sneakers (not ’snickers’ like the Goddamn candy bar), or in this case more commonly known as “Chucks” (named after Chuck Taylor) to most fashion literate people, work just fine to dress down the outfit. This outfit also greatly represents Korean metrosexual-male fashion. The bags are about as feminine as any Korean male’s “European carry-all” (Seinfeld, haaaay!) whose wardrobe doesn’t completely consist of Kappa and Adidas active wear. The “Dapper Dandy” look calls for fashionable tennis shoes or sneakers because it is a street-friendly alternative to an otherwise stuffy look. This is basically an affordable version of a more expensive outfit, which could’ve included a pair of La Tennis Bensimon tennis shoes, or white-leather Repetto sneakers.Ya burn?
Violent — keep it civil. I don’t want to have to ban people here. Disagree, but respectfully. This is a cocktail party — make a comment, put in your two cents, but keep it above belt, please.
They seem to have a much better sense of fashion than most of Korean college student guys. I’d be always eager to see more of classy folks on the Seoul streets, and it never hurts to have those stylish guys covered on FMS besides the girl fashionistas!
They seem to have a much better sense of fashion than most of Korean college student guys. what’s wrong with grooming yourself with cheaper alternatives that would best dress you up? That’s why I love korean clothing shops that sell stuff at much lower prices but do not necessarily make you look cheap – though it depends upon which shop you go to or which style of item you pick. I’d be always hoping to see more of classy folks on the Seoul streets, and it never hurts to have those stylish guys covered on FMS besides the girl fashionistas!
Whatever, “Violent”. I still think it’s ugly and don’t fit. It’s my opinion. And, (un)fortunately, you can’t change it.
And I question the “metrosexual” tag: this is beyond it, these boys have no clue what they are. And looks like it’s the trend. Again, using sneakers with suits end up on this…
FMS, no worries, I didn’t feel offended by “Violent”’s comment. Not an issue, just someone probably trying to make his/her point the universal truth. Usually – juding by the words – a kid.
By the way “Violent” (is it really “Violent” or “Violet”?), regarding the punch…well, this is the gift and the curse of internet: never was punched before, but would really love to see you try…
Sorry, FMS, my last drop of “evilness” around here. You know I’m no trouble maker, just like to say what I like about clothes and what I don’t.
The guy on the right has an outfit that works really well – the fit looks pretty good and it’s hard to go too wrong with dark grey and navy. I’m not too keen on the ‘air tie’, but it’s common enough in Korea that it doesn’t look geeky or too fashiony/affected like it would in North America. Even the bag is pretty good. I guess it’s all pretty safe, but whatever, it works.
Lefty needs to get rid of that jacket (probably the bag too) and even then he’s not quite as well put together as his buddy. I do like the lego brick lapel pin for some reason.
I think it’s okay to wear sneakers with casual dressy clothes, but could they at least have clean sneakers?
The outfit would look so much better the clean sneakers.
I meant to say “better with clean sneakers”.
I think the shoes are okay. It makes the outfit casual looking and not too dressy.
They’re ok I guess.
By the way, I was looking for some article about the killer hill and end up here reading almost 10 pages. LoL
I love that bag!!! and i think the one in sweater vest is hot!
