Hurray! Feetmanseoul has reached that point - which I and FMS used to say would finally come in the very near future. Hope this site keeps up the "already" good and hard work and stay unique from other fashion reporting sites till it gets published as a physical copy of magazine! hahaha
P.S. I kinda feel disgruntled that this historical peak of the site was reached soon after I left the site... :P

Well, if you "like to tell people about" this site, then do. If you think it's a good site, but think the name is weird, why would YOU be embarrassed about it? Are you afraid that you will be mistaken for a "foot fetish sex" fiend?

The site is what it is, and I think the funny name makes it stand out, and actually has meaning other than "man who has sex with feet." In Korean, a 발이 넓은 사람" is someone with wide feet, or someone who knows a lot of people and places because he's always walking around. I like the feeling of motion and walking, especially when we add in more audio tours and other city-related content. And yes, I like the idea of fashion-as-fetish, as some akin to sexual obsession.

To me, that's more interesting than the alternatives I came up with, which invariably involve the following words:
- Korea
- Seoul
- fashion
- street
- my

Or similar words combined in Korean:
- "nara" (country)
- "cheonguk" (heaven)

Results?
- KoreanFashionNara.com
- KoreanStreetFashion.com
- MyKoreanStreetFashion.com
- SeoulFashion.com
- KoreanFashion.com

Half of those names weren't even available, anyway, but they were still BORING. And if this site is ever successful, all of the competitors will probably have cliched names like that.

And the real story is that I always like the name and blog "Fat Man Seoul", and it was one of my favorite sites before it shut down. When I decided to quit street photography and just rest for awhile, I decided to explore the idea of fetish, especially with something difficult to make look artistic -- the foot. In a way, it was kind of an experiment, kind of a bizarre indulgence.

I got bored with that after a few weeks, though, and decided to make a shoe/accessories blog because the "shoeaholic" trend was so crazy a couple years ago. Then it evolved into talking about fashion in general -- but always with a distinct street documentary style, and one that does not apologize for the heterosexual male gaze. Instead, my photography celebrates it, revels in it. And I think it results in frank, fresh pictures that are somehow different from the soft-focus, dreamy pictures one sees all the time in "real" fashion magazines. Yet, if you think about it, the pictures there are far more sexual, far more "fetishy" in actuality than most of the stuff here.

They just have nice filters and better lights, that's all.

I like how our site is evolving. I like the look, and I like the feel. It's frank, unapologetically fresh, and real. Or so it's trying to be. And if we can extend that to the other content we're trying to make, I think we'll be on the right track.

As for the name, I think it has a distinct ring, it's got all kinds of meanings rolled up into it (including fetish), and hey...

Why are people so sensitive about feet? It's not like they're sensitive parts of the body (like breasts or genitals), nor are they particular forbidden. Yet, we can tell people "You have nice eyes" or "You have beautiful hands" or even "She's got great legs." Or if you're a man, you can say "He's got nice, broad shoulders" or "Look at those pecs!" or "Girl, he's got big bulging arms!"

Or back to girls, and the backside: "Baby's Got Back!"

But if you think someone has nice feet, you're a pervert?

It's a tongue-in-cheek name, and it grew on me, back when this actually WAS a site that explored the notion of display and fetish.

I think it's far more tasteful than "ButtManSeoul" or "BoobManSeoul" or even "LegManSeoul" -- call me crazy, but I like it.

And our site -- as well as our name -- is defined and explained by the content, I believe, not the other way around. Because I believe we really are "fashion from the ground up."

I'd like to tell people about your site, but the name is strange. It sounds like a foot fetish sex website - not a fashion website. Your website is great. Please change to a more legitimate sounding name.
