Too bad my Korean writing is 3rd grade level =(. Anyhow, just ignore the downers with success comes attention the good and the bad.

I'm actually in Seoul now and have been observing all the crazy fashion phenoms you've been writing about. Its been great fun.

Although, yesterday in the subway I got dirty looks and comments from little junior high school girls due to some of the nicer things I had on. Apparently being on the train with a caucasion person means I must not be able to speak Korean. I quickly changed that notion as I told them nastily that I understood everything they were saying and to stop being catty little biatches =).

Oh, let's not be ridiculous -- "racist?" I haven't met many Americans or Norwegians or Peruvians who are native speakers of Korean. Whether defined by passport, appearance, or what have you, I'm looking for native speakers educated in Korean schools, who can write high quality articles in Korean. I'm not concerned with splitting straws here. If there's some white or black or whatever person who are, by some accident of birth, native speakers of Korean who can write interesting, snappy content in KOREAN, by all means, they are welcome to apply. Short of that, the distinction is there to point out that I'm not looking specifically for more Americans or Canadians who want to write about fashion, since we want to make KOREAN content. And last time I checked, the vast majority of people with a little red passport that says "Republic of Korea" on it also happen to be native speakers of the Korean language. If you happen to have a blue passport with a gold eagle on it, or what have you, and you are a NATIVE SPEAKER of Korean and can write snappy Korean prose that can be published as articles, and you also live in Korea, you are more than welcome to apply. If you want to split hairs, I'm looking for native speakers of Korean who can write on a level in which they can be published.

Or, to make it simple, one might also say that this job is for Koreans, since they have to write in journalistic Korean. If you know a Swede who can do that, please introduce them. I'd love to meet them!

And yes, I want a female VJ and a female writer. I want them to network and become known in the fashion industry, and the vast majority of applicants are going to be women. The vast majority of the fashion industry are women. The people who can comfortably go backstage and talk to models getting dressed are women. Or make contacts with designers, makeup artists, or what have you. As a photographer, there are places that I can't go ALREADY as a man, and I'd like to have an assistant who can. The reasoning is so obvious to place a call for a 2 Korean women to be a VJ and columnist, I'd say it's ridiculous to have to even explain this.

Even stopping women on the street as a man gets the "어머나" reaction, let alone trying to navigate backstage when models are getting dressed and undressed, while toting a video camera. Is this not perfectly obvious?

This site needs real content produced by Koreans -- native speakers who can write content, translate, subtitle, and speak to people on the street. In Korean. Period.

Right now, I don't need another American photographer. Or another American writer. Or a French one. Or Japanese. Although appreciated, it just creates that much more work to be translated.

I need Koreans on this site, and I need women who can be the face of the site, who can put on a cocktail dress and impress and smooze, who can write their asses off, who can be better than me in areas I don't know about, who can make this online magazine seem legitimate and professional, while gaining the respect of those in the very conservative and insular traditional Korean fashion industry.

Or, I could end up with 15 male photographers who want to go to fashion week for free and meet hot babes. Maybe that's why a certain few of you think that's the only reason I do all this, and continue to put effort in making this site, but that's your option to think so. That has nothing to do with the reality that this site will stagnate without input from the type of people I am trying to make this site reach -- Korean women.

I am a native speaker of English. English content is easy to write and make. It is what makes this site viable to the world outside of Korea. If I could write snappy Korean content, I would. But I can't. And since this site wants to reach the domestic Korean market interested in fashion -- which happens to be largely female --- having Korean women helping make the content, as opposed to an American man, would help that process along pretty well, now wouldn't it?

I know what this site needs right now, and I don't there's anything at all unusual about putting out a call for a female VJ and columnist, who can write about and represent Korean fashion from the point of view of the mostly female demographic that this site targets.

There's enough male to the site already, from the beginning, and that's ME. I'm the only regular and continuous source of content on this site now, although there have been many valued contributions by -- surprise --almost all women. And that perspective is valuable if I am going to be able to create content that one of our main demographics likes.

If you see nefarious motives in that, well, that's on you.
