As a engineer..I can say....
to have variety collection, should be big consumer demand...still there are few women who want cute small camera bag...
So...we should make market first...
then...many company would compete with small cute pretty camera bag...they will...like cellphones..

Anyway...finally....I got DSLR ^^/
I'll try that style in next year in korea...
now.........I can't...........T.T.....
Damn it! I'm in gloomy freezer, Russian winter!!!

Have to agree - camera bags are ugly as sin, from a fashion pespective. Thanksfully, a Canon EOS 400d is pretty small by SLR standards. What with the big bag trend of late, that's just one of many things that can fit in a women's bag. Now that we're going back to clutches, though...

There's another perfectly valid reason for women to prefer smaller camera bodies: on the whole women have smaller hands. I have no problem hoisting a heavier camera, having a comfortable grip AND still reaching the shutter button or whatever else I need to use can be a pain when the camera is intended to rest in a man's meaty paw.
And while we're on the topic, why are camera bags so darned ugly? There's plenty of fashionable big bags, and plenty of big camera bags, so why can't they make a bag a serious photographer could use without looking like they have an infatuation with velcro and plastic quick-release buckles?
