fashion is fetish is fabulous is fun is fantastic!
This is my first time sipping on the Haterade here at FeetManSeoul, but hopefully, it won’t be my last.
I skipped around the celebrity news sites looking for a celebrity in a vomit enducing outfit. However, the photos that struck me the most were ones of 이효리 at this year’s Seoul Drama Awards held in late August.
The resident FMS hater for hire actually starts her first post here with a compliment. I’ll have to spread some first-class hate later on to make up for this!
Hyo-ri looked really nice in this simple dress. Now I would have tweeked a few things, but, no matter, she’s not paying me to style her. She looked good that night.
Now this outfit coup is in stark contrast to some of the craptastical outfits of horror we’ve seen her wearing in the recent past. Let’s take a walk down fugly outfit memory lane, shall we?

Good lord, what on earth is going on here? A chain gang runaway with some demented scrap metal haute couture caboose attached with a bow? Oh, nevermind, there is just way too much fug here. Let’s just move on as that photo simply makes me want to claw my eyes out.
Remember this sad imitation of Beyonce’s great outfit? What the hell was Hyo-ri thinking?
Yes, that’s a short and shiny dress with dark tights and shoes – completely WRONG for that hot little dress!

Notice too, that both of these shiteous outfits have stripes. I’d like to be able to say it’s just Hyo-ri and stripes equalling instant doom, but we know there was some horrible styling going on here with both of these get ups.
Hyo-ri’s outfit is so tragic that scolding your stylist isn’t good enough. You fire the stylist. What makes it worse is how damn great Bey looked. Swing that horse hair weave around Bey and show Hyo-ri how it’s done!

I’m glad Hyo-ri pulled it together for the Seoul Drama Awards. Let’s pray she keeps it up.

I love her navy dress so much!!
always loved the feeling of silky dress that touches my skin!!
And I do agree with you, whe should never imitate anyone…
She’s Hyori! she gotta pull HER out of herself, not any others…
Godsh.. Beyonce rocked that dress..
I’m scared of YOU! ㅋㅋㅋ
You’re right, though – Hyori (and anyone) does much better when she’s herself, rather than when she’s aping American pop stars.
I’m gonna have to start enjoying drinking this Haterade™!
Hehe.
I’m not gonna lie. I cannot stand Hyori. I don’t see the attraction at all. And trust me, I ain’t sippin’ no haterade.
I once saw a picture of Hyroi in a heinous blue getup with a straw hat, no makeup and it was one of the most damaging sights ever.
BTW, I LOVE your blog, especially when you do the street fashion posts. I love street fashion because it really illustrates how creative people can get. Keep up the good work!
Hey Joanna,
Thanks for the compliment. I’m new to this FMS crew.
The street style is the work of some other great folks here. Keep reading and spread the FMS word
Oh, I clicked over to your blog, I wish you a safe trip to Korea! Tell mom to lay off! You’ve got it covered.
Oooh, I thought this blog was run by one person. What kind of columns do you write? Celebrity fashion critiques? I loved this entry because of the snarky fashion humor. It reminds me of that girl from What Not To Wear.
Hyori is really short and on top of that she has really short legs, so she should have worn pitch black leggings with pitch black shoes to elongate her major flaw. And those shoes. What the hell is that. The color contrast in the shoe (what is that white? a RUBBER sole?) clashes horrifically with her striped dress and her grey almost translucent leggings. Her dress doesn’t even match her hair color which looks incredibly fake. I picture that dress on a leggy dark haired girl with red shoes (not a vivid red, but more subtle) and no tights.
Me? I’m the snarky bitch
My function will be to verbally skewer.
I completely agree with your black dress comments. I think had she done something to elongate her she wouldn’t have looked THAT bad! But I think it could have been managed with just black hose versus dark granny tights and the shoes, good Lord. You said it all. You’ll probably notice when you get here that in Seoul at least, that attention to detail hasn’t made it into life much less fashion. I think it will over time, but not right now.
The shoes aren’t bad, but they’re horrific with that outfit.
The blue dress is a step up for usually tastelessly dressed Hyo-ri. Ideally, I agree with you. A leggy girl would rock it. But, for what it’s worth, Hyo-ri looked surprisingly good and I had to give her a shout out.
Speaking of tasteless Hyo-ri, you’re going to die when you get here. There is a tea commercial with her in it and well, the outfit is just tragic.
