Short and Sweet!

Aug 11, 2006 Author: FMS | Filed under: Models, Street Runway

There are a lot of ideas floating around my head right now about how to make this site right. Lately, I’ve been getting up the gumption to talk to some cute girls as potential models for the site. So far, we have a few candidates, but the one I met last night seems the most promising.

Hands Present SmWe were sitting in the same restaurant when several things caught my eye; there was the pair of strikingly skinny legs, her healthy tanned skin, the bright contrast of her nails, the see-through blouse and yellow brassiere, her sassy walk, and her high, hyper-feminine voice. She was like a piece of overly-sweet candy, an assault on the senses, an indulgence that makes you remember that you’re on a diet. Standing Present Sm2When I approached her after they walked out of the restaurant, she was surprisingly compliant after I explained that I was looking for some “foot and hand models” and was wondering if she might be interested in having an easy part-time job that involved a little modeling. Most girls fake like they’re not interested, but the vanity factor is pretty strong. She was posing and presenting for the camera, sometime awkwardly, but pretty eagerly.

When I got her to sit down and take off her shoes, it entered a whole new level. She said she has size 210 feet, which makes her too small even for Korea. I think this means she’s like a size 4 and 1/2 or 5 or something.

Bare Sm-1

She’s young, eager, and very happy to pose. Think we should make a model out of her? Anonymous voyeurs coming and going to this site – start leaving some comments and feedback already. I know you’re out there, I know many of you have put this site’s RSS into your blog readers and browsers. let’s start getting some feedback!

Here’s one for the road. Man, that’s one hot girl, ready to pose!

Devil in the Details

Aug 10, 2006 Author: FMS | Filed under: Glamorous, Street Runway

Yes, as they say, “the Devil is in the details.”

I noticed this pair of pretty young college students strolling down the road in Hyehwa and decided to snap a few. Now, when you see a woman in a short skirt, you don’t always catch the details that make you want to look. Sometimes, a woman in a short skirt is just…a woman in a short skirt. Nothing special.

Bottom

But you really haveta look. Girls who make you turn your head often have the nice shape and what length of leg to make your imagination start going, but honestly, many Korean girls aren’t really “shapely” in the sense of other women in the world. Think the country of Brazil, the boodie of Beyoncé, “crunk in the trunk.” Korean women generally have fairly unremarkable legs.

Walking-1

So why does it seem like girls are shaking and showing it in a way that never tends to cross my mind in the States? I see a nice view or two walking down the street in the US, but in Korea, there’s always something to look at. Detail LeftIt’s in the details, man, and the details are what separates a UCSD SoCal girl wearing short shorts and thong beach sandals for coolness and comfort from a K-girl in Apkujung wearing strappy 3-inch heels and a miniskirt of the same length. Combine that with the other sexy accessorizing that Korean girls do, and you suddenly got a sexy package. Yes, Korean girls are generally pretty plain and I’ve heard it said that “Korean girls look better with their clothes on” – but that’s the whole point, isn’t it? Because Korean girls don’t come in all the same shapes and sizes that multiculti American girls do, and generally range from a size 0 to 4 or so, generally are between a narrower height range, and also generally wear a 6 or 7, you get a common, clearer palette to work with. Detail RightYes, standing in the buff, many Korean girls are pretty unremarkable (although I didn’t say undesirable!); but you add in makeup, heels, short skirt, straight “Magic” movie star perm, sparkly handbag, and a slightly skanky top with rhinestones and the cool sunglasses – as everyday wear for many young girls, not “clubwear” that many American girls only change into specifically to go on a night out – you got something to look at, something that catches the eye. And yep – the high-heeled foot is one of those things. On this particular girl, if you think about it, it’s her shoe that brings her into the zone of something sexy worth looking at; were she wearing a pair of flip-flop thong sandals, I wouldn’t have been taking these pictures. You can see in the two close detail shots to the right and left – merely close blowups of parts of the picture above – that her clean, cute feet and well-chose white shoes combine to accentuate what is a pretty unspectacular leg, besides the obvious fact that she has good skin.

White Girl

Aug 7, 2006 Author: FMS | Filed under: Ghetto Fab, Street Runway

White Lady EntireThere are a lot of aspects to White Girl worth talking about. They’re just things I observe, and are signs that my standards of female beauty have become somewhat Koreanized. Otherwise, why would I be so weirdly attracted to a woman who, in my previous life before Korea, I would have dismissed as pale and kinda unhealthy looking? It’s because in Korea, being pale and generally unhealthy looking is actually a certain aesthetic. It’s the combination of the fact that most Korean women have never regularly exercised (soccer, field hockey, swimming, basketball, softball, etc.), White Lady Walking Backenabling the phenomenon known as “skinny fat”, also known by the more medical term “thin obesity”, in which a given very, very skinny woman is actually medically obese (was that 25% of their weight being body fat?). In Seoul, more than any place else I have been in the world, many skinny women walk down the street with the fat on their bones flib-flabbing from side to side. Eww, right? Add to that the extremely pale skin of some of these women (preserved by the constant use of parasols), and the idea that if they do any exercise at all, they’ll get huge Arnold Schwarzenegger legs and Sarah Connor arms – you get that delicate, pale, dependent look of doe-eyed femininity. And I hate to admit it, but – I kinda like it sometimes.

I know it sounds and can even look gross, but I can’t do anything other than admit it. I know many of you will not want to blow up the pic below, but this girl is sooo ghetto fabulous – pale, not-so-great skin, yellow soles, and brown spots on exposed joints – man, I just had to snap a picture or two as she strutted by with her Princess Diana attitude. These are the princesses who would never date a foriegner, and are best found with thug-ajussi dudes who hang in the Jongno or Yungdeungpo. These are the Korean round-the-way girls, and they are their own kind of lovely.

Dongnae 다리

Aug 5, 2006 Author: FMS | Filed under: Ghetto Fab, Street Runway

Dongnae CounterFor those of you who don’t know, 다리 (da-ri) means “legs” in Korean. And in everyday Korean speech, you get the concepts of 무다리 (mu da-ri or “radish legs”) for a person with wide legs (especially calves), “long dari” for people with the desired long and apparently “western” style of legs, and also “short dari”, which points to the opposite, undesired situation of having short, Korean-style legs. Korean women are known for their leg-lengthening tricks, such as wearing high heels all the time, wearing extra high heels below their jeans that have their bottoms sweeping on the floor, the (thankfully dead) platform shoe fad, wearing jeans as low as possible, etc. It’s been explained to me that Korean women have extra-long torsos and shorter legs. Well, I could buy that, from my own observations.

Dongnae Counter LegsBut there’s another kind of legs worth making note of; these are the “dongnae dari” (동네 다리), which is a term I coin here literally meaning “neighborhood legs”. The more nuanced meaning would be something like “neighborhood” or “around-the-way girl legs”, but I leave that to you to chew on. All I have to say is that I got a place in my heart for all kinds of girls and legs and whatnot. You see the coiffed and sexy and smooth Kangnam girls walking around looking like a million bucks, but then you see the neighborhood girl walking into the local Red Mango strutting her stuff and flipping her hair and throwing attitude like she thinks she is in Kangnam and not a little round-the-corner joint. She thought she was fly; I had to agree, although she was fly in a fish-n-grits, sweaty, jukejoint kinda way. If such analogies can be made…

Please excuse the varicose veins. Did I mention fish-n-grits? Hehe.

Don’t flame me for this one. Just goooo with the flow and indulge the few of us out there who have a grittier set of tastes…

Office Cute with Good News to Boot

Aug 4, 2006 Author: FMS | Filed under: Site Stuff, Street Runway

Office Worker PresentI’m trying to serve all types with this site. I’ve got short, tall, skinny, small; I’m trying to get different styles, as in formal, casual, naughty, nice. Whatever catches my eye, really. Before I get to talking about the site a bit today, I wanted to show you all the cute, clean lines of the office girl I saw about to pass me by yesterday. She was prim, neat, and cute as you can imagine. Think about some cute office girl you’ve come across in your daily dealings here – there’s gotta be one – and extrapolate. This girl was that girl, so I give you a chance to get a better look at her, at least from the bottom up. Neat, stylish, and just a little office sexy. As always, click the pic to see the details, because we know who’s in those.

Office Worker Walk

Now, as site news goes, I am happy to report that we’ve broken the 1,000 daily visitors point within just about a week of being online! Thanks be to both The Marmot and The Lost Nomad for giving us a nod over here. And yes, although the site’s a bit unusual, I’ll say again – what guy doesn’t take a second glance at a nice pair of legs? The only difference here is that we give you more detail.

I’d love to get responses on some of these pictures! So, fair readers, please start leaving comments as well as suggestions for stuff you’d like to see.

And don’t worry – it’s all as anonymous as you want it to be. Tell FMS what you want to see!

What is TALENT?

"내가 연기할 수 없을 때, 난 연기를 해야 했고, 노래할 수 없을 때, 난 '익살스런 얼굴'을 노래해야 했다. 또, 난 Fred Astaire와 함께 춤을 춰야 했었는데, 그때는 춤을 출 수 있는 상황이 아니었다. 그러니까 내가 준비되지 않았을 때 난 이 모든것을 해야 했던 것이다. 그때 난 정말 미친듯이 이 난국을 타개하기 위해 노력했다."

"I was asked to act when I couldn't act. I was asked to sing 'Funny Face' when I couldn't sing, and dance with Fred Astaire when I couldn't dance - and do all kinds of things I wasn't prepared for. Then I tried like mad to cope with it.”

---Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993)
